Meet Jan Thomson – a New Zealand artist and art tutor who works with both watercolour and acrylic.
Jan likes to get out and about and paint – capturing light and mood, getting people to notice places and things that we often take for granted. She enjoys creating paintings that capture the way she sees the world.
With her studio/gallery situated beside Nelson Lakes National Park , landscapes, especially the beautiful alpine environs , are what she enjoys painting most. Other favourites range from native birds to a local shearing gang, the family motorbike or everyday objects that take her eye! Seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary , light is always the biggest drawcard for Jan.
She holds regular solo exhibitions, as well as exhibiting with The Suter Art Society and Watercolour New Zealand.
Jan’s work is held in private collections both in New Zealand and overseas and is happy to discuss commissions if you have a favourite subject you would like painted. She is also a very experienced watercolour tutor and holds regular workshops.
